STARS COME OUT FOR WORLD PREMIERE OF ‘BACK OF THE MOON’ AT THE 40th DURBAN INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

The stars of BACK OF THE MOON shone brightly at the World Premiere of the film at the Durban International Film Festival Friday night. Director, Angus Gibson presented the film along with the lead cast which included Richard Lukunku, Moneoa Moshesh, Lemogang Tsipa, Thomas Gumede, Israel Makoe; producer, Desiree Markgraff and executive producers, William Kentridge and Anant Singh.

BACK OF THE MOON captivated the Durban Film Festival audience with its expert direction and superb performances.  The showstopper of the night though was lead actress, Moneoa Moshesh who not only enthralled the audience with her solid performance as Eve, but looked radiant in an exquisite white gown. Moshesh who is best known as a singer, made her feature film debut as an actress in BACK OF THE MOON.

Speaking after the film, Executive Producer, Anant Singh said, “Angus has done an amazing job crafting an authentic period film, and brought Sophiatown to life in BACK OF THE MOON.  It is a timely film that celebrates the legacy of Sophiatown which was destroyed by the apartheid government more than 60 years ago.  The stellar cast, especially Richard Lukunku and Moneoa Moshesh dazzled the Durban Film Festival audience with superb performances, but Moneoa’s portrayal of Eve which was enhanced by her natural singing talents stole the show! She is, no doubt, one the most talented rising stars in South Africa.”
