‘IMBEWU: THE SEED’ TRIUMPHS AT HISTORICAL VIRTUAL SAFTAS

IMBEWU: THE SEED which is broadcast daily on e.tv received the coveted SAFTA award for the Most Popular TV Soap/Telenovela at the 14th edition of the awards which was held in the virtual online world on Thursday night in observance of the Covid-19 Lockdown.

The Most Popular TV Soap/Telenovela award is unique as the winner is decided by members of the public who vote via sms, rather than by the SAFTA judging panel.  The win by IMBEWU: THE SEED is a major achievement as it indicates that the show is the favourite among viewers across South Africa.

Also winning at the SAFTA’s was Thembi Mtshali-Jones who was honoured with the Lifetime Achiever Award. A veteran actress and singer, Mtshali-Jones plays MaNdlovu in IMBEWU: THE SEED.

Anant Singh, CEO of Videovision Entertainment and Executive Producer of IMBEWU: THE SEED said, “We congratulate the Imbewu team for this accolade.  Being recognised as favourite among the South African television audience after just two years, is a triumph for the entire cast and crew.  It is a wonderful feeling knowing that South Africa loves IMBEWU: THE SEED.  We also congratulate Thembi Mtshali-Jones for the well-deserved Lifetime Achiever Award which acknowledges her contribution to the South African entertainment industry. We thank our broadcaster, e.tv for their continued support of Imbewu, and congratulate them as well, as the award also an achievement for e.tv.”
