REMEMBER, the first collaboration between distinguished producers, South Africa’s Anant Singh and Canada’s Robert Lantos had its World Premiere at the Venice International Film Festival last night. The film received a rousing ten minute standing ovation and acclaim from some of the world’s leading film critics attending the Festival. REMEMBER stars Oscar® winners Christopher Plummer and Martin Landau and is directed by Oscar® nominee and Cannes Grand Prix winner Atom Egoyan.
Robbie Collin of London’s Daily Telegraph called the film, “Atom Egoyan’s masterful new thriller…it’s good!” and Hanna Rantala of Reuters said that the film was “clever and well executed”. The Guardian’s Ed Frankl commended the performances in the film stating, “Plummer is effortlessly good”, while Associated Press’ Jill Lawless said, “Christopher Plummer is riveting.” David Stratton writing for The Australian said, “Plummer was terrific. The applause at the end was strongest I’ve heard for a competition film!”
Commenting from Venice, Anant Singh said, “We are delighted with the incredible reaction to the film, especially the extended standing ovation recognizing the brilliant performances. We are proud to be associated with the film, and to be distributing it in South Africa.”
REMEMBER, produced by Serendipity Point Films’ Robert Lantos (Eastern Promises, The Sweet Hereafter), is executive produced by Anant Singh and Mark Musselman along with Moises Cosio, Jeff Sagansky, Mike Porter, Larry Guterman and D. Matt Geller and Jens Meurer as co-producer. The film also stars Breaking Bad’s Dean Norris and features the music composition of Academy Award® Winner, Mychael Danna (Life of Pi) and is based on an original screenplay by first time screenwriter, Benjamin August.
REMEMBER will have its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival tomorrow and will be released in South Africa later this year through United International Pictures.
