Lord Joel Joffe was a remarkable human being and a brilliant legal mind. He was an integral part of the legal team representing the Rivonia Trialists and made a substantial contribution to the legal arguments of the defence.
Lord Joffe’s book, ‘The State vs Nelson Mandela’, was an invaluable resource for me while developing the script for the film MANDELA: LONG WALK TO FREEDOM.
I had the pleasure to meet Lord Joffe with Ahmed Kathrada in London two years ago. He was very special man who was committed to the anti-apartheid struggle remained committed to the cause of justice in South Africa and around the world.
Our love and prayers go out to his family as we celebrate him as an exceptional human being.
